Workout 8-3-09 (Home)/Full Body
The body weight experiment continues: Day 2 of working out
20 push ups
15 crunches
5 squats (held for 20 seconds each)
4 planks (held 10 seconds each)
5 lunges (each leg)
The goal with each of these was to do as many as I could do, until I felt I just couldn’t do 1 more.
I’m still sore from doing this workout a couple of days ago, so I really had to push to even finish these numbers. I’ve decided that I’m going to try to do this exact workout for a week, then start increasing as often as I can, in hopes that by then end of the week (4 identical workouts), the soreness will go away and I can focus on increasing these numbers.
A Whole New Start
What has been happening since I last blogged? I lost my job, got my motorcycle license and dated a couple of different men, none very seriously. It’s been 3 weeks since I was laid off and I’m definitely going stir-crazy! I’m actually waiting to hear if I got a job I really want that I interviewed for twice last week, the pay is good, the work environment is great, the only downsides are that it is further away and will be 8-5, so no more working from home.

Workout 8-1-09 (Home)/Full Body
This is the start of an experiment. After talking to someone who is in great shape yet doesn’t go to the gym, then seeing part of his workout, I thought I’d give it a try. Essentially it is a “body weight” workout. You need no equipment, and if you look at the list of the exercises I’m doing so far, you might notice the similarity between these and high school gym class. I’m going to try doing this at least every other day.
20 push ups
15 crunches
5 squats (held for 20 seconds each)
4 planks (held 10 seconds each)
5 lunges (each leg)
The goal with each of these was to do as many as I could do, until I felt I just couldn’t do 1 more.
Results were better than I expected. Admittedly, most of the push ups were “girl style” but I still was able to do 20! The crunches were tough, but I’ve always hated those. With the squats and the planks I did use a timer (actually my HRM). And the lunges, I probably could have done more if I hadn’t done the squats. Not bad for not being in the gym for months!
Let’s Try This Again, Shall We?
Okay, work got super busy and I was horrible about updating with the cleanse, but in essence I don’t know that it made me feel any better or worse, and having to take these huge “horse pills” twice daily was annoying
Well, back in the gym last night, for the first time in who knows how long. I’ll put that workout in a seperate post, but I really pushed myself. So, back to the trials and tribulations of trying to get healthy.
Countdown to Lucy’s Wedding: 64 days (until I have to wear a bridesmaid dress)
This is very important because are looking at black cocktail dresses that are strapless, so I’m especially trying to focus on my upper body.
Cleansing, Day 2
So far, no direct results from the cleansing, but I’m assuming that it’ll take at least a few days to start feeling the effects.
It’s a really quiet day at work, with very little to do, since the rest of my team is at a conference in the city. May just work from home this afternoon.
9:00am:
McCann’s Quick Cooking Oats with 1 tsp of each of the following… dried cranberries, blueberries, cherries and raisins, almonds, walnuts and wheat germ
Mix1 Hi-Antioxidant Fiber Drink in Orange-Carrot (the extra fiber in these make them a little too powdery)
GNC UltraMega for Her Vitamins
12:30pm:
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk cookie (bad, I know, but I can’t resist Specialty’s cookies when they’re just sitting there waiting to be devoured)
2:15pm:
Lunch at Thai Pepper
Broccoli Prawns (ate all 5 prawns and most of the broccoli, but left the carrots because they were soaked in the greasy sauce)
Fresh spring roll
2 tsp peanut sauce
Frozo’s Fat-free Froyo (Original Tart) with mango, blackberries and lychee
I’ve Been Bad
Yes, I’ve been bad, in more ways that one. I realized that I haven’t updated my blog since January, and I’ve fallen off the wagon in regards to really paying attention to what I eat. So far I’ve maintained my weightloss, although I have no idea how. I also have a new incentive to get back in the habit, my friend Lucy’s wedding is coming up and she has asked me to be her bridesmaid, so I definitely have to look better for the wedding pics!!
So, to kick-off a new phase I’m doing a whole body cleansing, which I’ve heard helps to clear out your body and give you lots of energy, both of which I need. Today is day one.
Weight: 182.7lbs
Results of Cleansing:

Workout 1-12-09 (Gym) / warm-up & lower body (cut short)
Today was the first meeting with my personal trainer, in which we were actually training instead of doing paperwork. Unfortunately, the workout was cut short because I was going to pass out, faint, whatever you want to call it. I’ve always been told to have more of a snack before working out, not a full meal, because it might make you sick. I discovered today that an actual meal is a must before serious training, or you WILL get sick!
So, this is what I did before cutting everything off.
Dumbbell Squats – 7.5lbs in each hand @ 1×20
Dumbbell Swing – 12.5lbs @ 1×20
Dumbbell Squats – 7.5lbs in each hand @ 1×12
Dumbbell Swing – 12.5lbs @ 1×12
So, I’ll be meeting with my trainer again tomorrow, but will definitely have breakfast, first, then see how the rest of the workout goes.
A Quiet Day
Working from home today with a lot to do, but focusing is hard to do. Trying to listen to hard rock/industrial to keep my pace up.
